About the FIMC

Food Is Medicine Coalition Mission Statement

To advance and sustain the integration of nutrition-focused interventions into West Virginia’s healthcare system by improving health outcomes and reducing healthcare costs through collaborative leadership, advocacy, and innovative community partnerships.

Expanding Access to Food Is Medicine in WV

Together, we seek to increase sustainable funding streams for Food Is Medicine programming, especially healthcare reimbursement. Additionally, we want to grow the local evidence base supporting Food Is Medicine programs.

Improving Healthcare Provider Awareness of Food Is Medicine Programs

Our goal is to develop guidance documents supporting the implementation of Food Is Medicine programs in healthcare settings.
